ARTHRITIC PAIN AND STIFFNESS

ARTHRITIC PAIN AND STIFFNESS

Indocream/Lidocaine Cream (Indomethacin 10/5%)

Active Ingredients:

Indomethacin 10, Lidocaine 5%

Product(s):

Indomethacin, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and antipyretic properties, is used to treat osteoarthritis and control acute pain. For moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis including acute flares of chronic disease, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, acute painful shoulder (bursitis and/or tendonitis) and acute gouty arthritis. Anti-inflammatory effects of Indomethacin are believed to be due to inhibition of cylooxygenase in platelets, which leads to the blockage of prostaglandin synthesis. Antipyretic effects may be due to action on the hypothalamus, resulting in an increased peripheral blood flow, vasodilation, and subsequent heat dissipation.

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that has neuron membrane stabilizing effect. Topical lidocaine is mostly used in combination with other agents (NSAIDs, muscle relaxants, NMDA-receptor antagonist, and etc…). Lidocaine produces pain relief by blocking the signals at the nerve endings in the skin. Lidocaine causes loss of feeling (numbness) of skin and mucous membranes, which topically is used to relieve pain.
